Here in Britain, we're offered a referendum today. Do we want to leave the European Union (Brexit) or stay in it (Bremain)? PLEASE VOTE!

By now everybody reading friendly_crips knows that I voted to Bremain. I did this a week ago, using the postal vote that enables us in the UK, disabled or not, to be part of our democracy.

Today Avaaz says:

By now it's the next day and the vote was indeed to 'leave'. Prime Minister Cameron announced that he'd resign.

Financial crisis is now underway worldwide.

The vote was very close - 48-52 - so nearly half of us UK voters wanted to say in the EU.

I haven't seen much comment on the news about how very close was the result. Across the UK, nearly half (48%) of us voted Bremain. In Northern Ireland I think I'm right to say that there was a clear, albeit close, result: 56% voted Bremain.

In my opinion this is a good example of how referendum is a daft way to make big decisions for a country. Public opinion is fickle, changing fast.
