Yes she is. Sister to 2, step-sister to 3, mum to 3, granny to 8, great-granny to more than I've kept count of, auntie to dozens. She was an infant-school teacher. She lived in a cottage that inspired my childhood dreams of a smallholding. She had cats and bees and there were pigs, either hers or a neighbour's.
A few months ago she moved into residential care. Around that time her daughter got her a computer and helped her learn how to use email. So it's become possible for me to keep in touch with my auntie. I'm glad that the last time I wrote to her was only a couple of weeks ago, and that my words were happy and peaceful.
