Allergies in the home

One of my LJ Friends (who might choose to identify perself here) found this webpage about allergies in the home. I like it. My asthma diagnosis is quite recent but I'm noticing how certain smells interfere with my breathing, and have done so for many years. Did you follow per advice? I know somebody who did that.

It sounds like something to do only if you consider it essential - lots of disruption and cost. For me (and for you?) it would involve negotiating with a landlady/landlord. My landlady is a blessing in human form but this house needs a total refurb, so pulling up carpets etc would expose all sorts. I hope it never becomes necessary. Will ask my neuro's opinion.
