Oh how I appreciate that post. I honestly think that politicians should be made to live at least say 6 months no access to savings on what they say is the minimum amount we need to live on and then see how policies would change.

Exactly! It's generally enough to live on as long as there's no emergency expenses...and of course there's always emergency expenses.

I get really annoyed with bbc1's 'saint's and scroungers'* programme where they pit the deserving poor and disabled (gawd bless'um) on welfare vs benefit cheats. A much more representative programme would feature people under-claiming benefits vs tax dodgers and mp's expense manipulators.

Anyone else think prescription charge should be less than the minimum wage?

*Just to be clear, I don't watch it, I am just irked by its existence.

I don't watch that programme either, in fact, I'd not heard of it until now. And I'm not tempted. Blimmin 'eck, Auntie Beeb can do better than this.
