Hi there,
My name is Jess and I'm new to this community, which I was invited to join by sammason. *waves* :-)
I thought I would share this video which I stumbled across last week when I was looking through the biUK website. The talk occurs in  the context of a larger presentation about mental health amongst bisexual people, and this particular part is about ( Read more... )

Hi Jess and welcome to the comm.

Unfortunately I'm finding your diagram hard to read because my eyesight's not so good. But I like the spoken words. Esp the bit that I just happen to have as a userpic! so I'll put it on here.

I can't really see the diagram properly either as it's so small. I think there is a larger copy of it on the website that I'll track down and post as a comment when I'm at my laptop. Sorry I should have thought to put a link up for it before. Although I don't think the diagram is necessary for content of the talk. I'm assuming it was just up on the projector during Meg's presentation.

I have found the prezi presentation of it, which has the whole presentation (not just the bit in the video) in the form of diagrams. The only thing is that I can't seem to directly link to it because the URL doesn't change when I click on it, so it will just send you to the main website. But if you click on this link http://www.biuk.org/ and then scroll down to the section titled "BiReCon 2012: Meg’s talk" there is a hyperlink to the presentation called "Depression and/or oppression? Bisexuality and Mental Health" at the bottom of the paragraph.
If you do the first few clicks of it alongside the video you should be able to see the specific bits of the diagram as she talks about them. Also, the rest of the presentation which is about mental health amongst bisexuals can also be found on the link above.
Hope that helps.

Is there a transcript for this video?

Unfortunately I can't seem to find a transcript of her presentation anywhere, despite the website saying that speakers are being encouraged to write up their presentations. I don't know Meg Barker personally, but I met her once and she seemed really friendly. I could email her and see if she has a copy of the transcript that she could send me, which I could then post on here, if you like?

That's okay if you can't - but like many people, I can't generally watch videos, so I try to encourage people to post with transcripts, especially in disability communities.

Sorry, I should have thought of that before. I'll email Meg Barker tomorrow and see if she has a transcript or the presentations notes.
Otherwise, I'm more than happy to transcribe it for you myself, if you like?
In the mean time, the visual prezi presentation is posted in the link provided above, but it might not be as informative as a proper transcript.
