IKR? I was really impressed by her clear thinking in such a traumatic situation. Nobody deserves to be treated like that, but it's even more ridiculous to tell a person who was actually trying to take precautions to make sure thier rapist was caught, that they were taking the *wrong* precautions.

Oh, FAIL. These sorts of things seem to happen a lot unfortunately when daytime 'light' talk shows try to tackle serious subjects - the presenter feels under pressure to get away from the serious slot ("And now, let's join Charlie in the garden...") and says something thoughtless or patronising in a failed attempt to lighten the tone.

That's true actually - sometimes happens on news too but less so these days now news is more, hm, separated into themes? It *is* awkward to transition from the serious to the frivolous but still; this is much more problematic than eg anything Ken Clarke said, I'd *hope* that the same media sources so staunchly defending rape victims a couple of months back would pick up on this one, but clearly they've moved on. Or something.

Just wondered if you got a reply? I sent a very brief email last night and got a fairly 'fobbed off' reply

Only the holding reply so far, the "thanks for sending us your feedback" one. Nothing further yet.
