I love this idea. I have an 8 year old who really is not into art (normal kinds like coloring books etc.) and I am always trying to get her interested in that side of her spirit. So this is a wonderful community for us. Can't wait.

Well - that is a wonderful question. She has a grapho motor difference which in essence means she has a delay that needs work - and in non tech terms means it is hard for her to put the pencil on the paper in the right place. So that is one thing that I continually try to work with. She is all about magic, killing off bad guys, is a tom boy. She likes painting but not enough to really sit down and do anything unless friends are doing it as well.

She loves horses, swimming, diving, etc. Is there anything like moving art? Lol - there probably is. i guess it just has to capture her imagination.

Thanks for asking. She is in the Third Grade this year.

Making August the swap for the kids. Meanwhile, you could tell us what you want done, that kind of thing. We can swap with who is here, put pictures up, that kind of thing. Also, have you let people know in other Kid categories that you have started this? (that may be a duh question, but just storming my brain right now)

well...hmn...the only problem with swapping in august would be that right now i'm on the road, working ( i live in tennessee, but i'm in miami for 2-3 months) if i knew **exactly** when i was going to be back home it wouldn't be an issue.

HOWEVER!! if anyone here would like to host a swap, they're welcome to!

i've/we've posted a few messages around, but previous to this my computer time was somewhat limited...maybe now that i have a bit more free time, i'll do some more research/advertising.

know of any kids groups you'd recommend?

how does one host a swap?

it's pretty easy...first, you obviously need a theme/media/etc. then figure out what date you'd like the pieces due by, and how many you want. (like 2 for 2, 3 for 3, etc)...then figure out how long you want to give yourself to swap everything out. (usually 2 weeks is doable, cuz **life** happens!)

create a list of participants for your own use, and either post your mailing addy, or an email wher folks can contact you for it, whichever you're comfortable with. you also want folks to include return postage, as it can add up pretty quickly otherwise!

when i do swaps that are larger, i like to create a mailing list so i can keep folks updated with one message, but not everyone does that...i just find it easier. with a smaller group, and one thats based off of one particular group like fridgedoor, it probably isn't necessary.

that's the basics of it, there! if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Well, I was thinking of volunteering while you were gone - and I have never done this kind of thing before. I don't want a site myself and I love what is projected for this one. I think it is doable, I just don't know of any ideas that I have which is why I am here...lol.

feel free to hostess! now, while the group is fairly small, would be a perfect time to "break in" as it were!

one thought as for possible swaps is atcs...kids (and most of us adults, lol!) love to collect things...and they're perfect for a relatively quick and easy project! i imagine myerschos daughter, Young, would LOVE to swap cards!

Well I need to know the ages of the kids. I was thinking something simple right now, like cave paintings (on crushed paper bags) or even friendship bracelets. I guess I need some parameters and what has been done to date.

Thanks - for all the help!
