"What are you thinking?" he begs, leaning forward. He loves those moments when he can really get inside her head, literal or not.
"I'm thinking that we're all crazy," she comments, looking down lovingly at their daughter. "But that we belong together."
"After all the things we've been through it is hard to believe, isn't it?"
She smiles, and his heart flutters.
"I think there has to be angels looking down upon us."
And as Edward gazes upon his wife and daughter it was hard to believe that she was wrong.

Jacob winced. He tuned out the sound as Bella’s lips moved to answer their son’s question.
They’d removed angels from their lives. Bella’d chosen Jake, but he knew that Edward was still a tender spot for her. A name that would always cause her a mixture of pain, regret, and longing.
Their Christmas tree was topped with a star. They didn’t make snow angels. They had no angels in their lives. Afterall, even Edward had been fleeting.
Angels didn’t last.
Jake was thankful. Thankful Bella’s “angel” had disappeared like the rest.
