Well, the pickles didn't work out.

The kittens are damned cute.

Molly's curled up in a ball.

I need to start a new batch of sauerkraut.

And the kombucha's flourishing. I'm starting to collect it in the fridge for drinking.

How're your nonsentients?

Fava beans are sending radicles through their sides and down into the rows.
Peas and coles are sitting there comfortable and crisp in the rain, maybe growing a little.
Garlic just went in the ground.
Greenhouse starts need to come in from the parking lot soon.
Josephine and Mary Ann the new chickens are too big for their tub home.
Agatha, Ophelia and Eugenie are laying orange-yolked eggs from all the end-of-summer produce.
Dot, Dot and Dot don't live with me anymore; I miss them.
Kombucha doesn't live with me anymore and was neglected even when it did; I should probably harangue its godmother.

Lovely.

Of course, with Monica's reply, I'm imagining the chickens battling for status with some runaway robots.

That's a really good idea, and fits right in with my plans for the weekend. /absolutely serious

The conductor's baton doesn't even hold their interest unless I put infrared on the tip. And they're not very good at listening to each other. So it's not easy.

Your cats and dog aren't sentient?

I'm not an animal rights activist, so I guess I'd say that I kinda doubt it.

I cloned a jar of fungus/bacterial symbiont into two jars. I intend to fry them alive in a pan. I have never before done such a thing.

The only such fungus I can think of is tempeh. Did you make tempeh? Cause I'd like to know more details about your experience. Or are you doing something with spirulina?

The kombucha is in the care of a nice fellow in Massachusetts. Perhaps I should find a new one.

The dog compulsively runs to check her food bowl every time I make a cat noise (she also does it for chicken noises).

The cat is somewhere in a foster home or shelter, but will hopefully be here soon.
