I had a thought.

The past few days (and before that, but sort of a lot the past few days), I've been seeing Freyja's fiery-ness. She has a lot of fiery and/or solar associations. And in Froijenborg, she's referred to as "da vana solen"--the Vanic sun. She's very bright. Gold is the color of sunlight and firelight.

So what if they couldn't kill her by burning her because she IS fire (or at least has control of it) and you can't kill the sun with a bonfire.

WOW! What a thought! You gave me chills. This certainly goes along with some of my reflections on and experiences of Freyja. When she showed me her face is was light the sun. I know that we do not know the etymological meanings of Mardoll and Horn, two fo her names, but if they are Sea Bright and Flax they both have associations with the Sun as do Gefn (Giver), Gullveig (Gold Power) and Heidr (Shining One) Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
