UPG: A Worthless Concept

UPG is a useless concept to me. It’s not that I do not understand the concept. I do and find it incoherent and worthless. If something is “Unverified” how can it be “Gnosis”? If something is “Gnosis” it is “Verified”. What sense does it make to call something knowledge when that something is unverified? Don’t we already have other words like “ ( Read more... )

Thanks for the add, yo!

While I'm not against UPG, it confuses me. I don't believe that Teh Lore is absolutely literal, but UPG sound a lot like buffet religion to me. You pick what you want and ignore the rest.

BUT, I am just a Newb. What do I know?

You're welcome! I enjoy lively dialog about things that really matter. So do you really think that there is an objective reading of the Lore that everyone ought to agree on? Are you suggesting that folks do not pick what they want from the lore and ignore the rest?

The only thing I'm suggesting is that at this point I don't know which way is up :P

Most UPG makes me the furious little doubter in my brain go 'nuh-uh! prove it!' However, Teh Lore makes more sense to ME if I read it from a metaphorical perspective, but how is that NOT just another version of UPG?

Faebee, I appreciate your self awareness and honesty, especially about interpreting the lore. In my mind, your comment goes along with what I said about our readinga of the Lore being unique and personal. How can it not be, unless we're just repeating what someone else said?
