The following line of code, though, doesn't just hide the repost boxes to you like the Greasemonkey code for Firefox going around does. It completely removes the option for everyone viewing your journal or community. I've done it for this comm as well as my personal journal ( Read more... )

if people view the LJ with ?format=light or ?style=mine, they would still see those boxes.

And why did LJ get rid of the "Log in? [ ]" option in comment boxes? >=(
When I'm logged out, I often comment & log in at the same time. Bah.

That is unfortunate. Maybe someone will come up with a code for that? Assuming LJ doesn't pull its head out of its ass before then.

It's unfortunate that this won't work if people view it in their own style. :(

That is unfortunate, yes. I'm sure that we'll eventually get a code for that, too, if it's even possible (honestly, I don't know near enough about coding to say that for certain!), I'm just somewhat relieved that there's even this much of a 'solution'. I'd still like to see LJ remove the option altogether, however.

I'm just slowly catching up on LJ's newest fail.

I don't post often at the moment, but for the few times I do I'm really considering crossposting from DW with comments turned off on LJ.

And thank you for the code, even if it only works in our own style.:(

I'm considering doing the same, which kind of sucks. (I really do love lj, in spite of all the fail; I just don't know if I can shrug this one off.)

You're welcome! :)
