I'd just like to plug the last book I read in th' '05, "The Year of Magical Thinking", by Joan Didion. I've had this unconscious aversion to her because, uh...she's named Joan, but I'm a fan now.
It's a deeply affecting and beautifully crafted chronicle of the year she spent grieving the death of her daughter. I couldn't read it on the train or at work, I had to spend time with it at home because it's just such a cathartic read. I was considering lending it to Mom, but...no; no.

I loved it, it was "the color of water" a non-fiction book about a guy who found out his mom was white and Jewish. I mean, he knew she was white, but he finds out her whole history. Really good. Other than that I'm re-reading Chinese Cuisines, time-life book from the 60s, that has no photos or stories about China because China was closed then. I used to read novels, that was a year or so ago. Don't know what happened. Sudoku Happened, maybe.

I'd suggest it though.

(very paraphrased, because I haven't read that book since grade 8) "Reality is terrible enough. Why would anyone want to make more of it?"Reply
And Vidal Gore- I heard he likes men! I mean, come on, let's face it...
What? Did I say something? 8P
