When he'd gotten off late on Friday night, she'd gone home with him so she could leave her car in Georgetown. There was a reason beyond flying under Joan's radar that Annie wanted Clay to drive: for this kind of getaway, his car was better suited for a four hour drive to the coast.
The plan had been to stay Friday at his condo and leave first thing in the morning for Manderly. Waking up on Saturday, she started the coffee and made sure that her bag was packed correctly for the week. This time, she hadn't brought a one-piece.
