Fandom-y fodder.

Have I mentioned that Chess In Concert was glorious? Because it was. Now have a couple memes.

For me, Buffy's at the bottom of the totem pole because it's his only show that had a lead I couldn't stand. Angel started out slow (except for Doyle) and hit some plotting lows along the way (same for Buffy and Dollhouse - just a Joss way of life), but ATS was stronger for me as a whole, more consistent. S5 was on par with Buffy's very best (which was way back in S2).

As for Felicity, I'm the opposite. I was such a loyal Noel girl when the show actually aired (and my bias wasn't helped by running Foley's site) that I totally wrote Ben off. Didn't like him, didn't hate him, just didn't want him there. Once I got the series box sets and started rewatching (again, admittedly after my grudging Speedman respect began with The 24th Day and grew exponentially with My Life Without Me), I was shocked by how much I genuinely liked Ben. Don't get me wrong - I'm still a Noel girl through and through. I just don't mind the CC on this one. :)

In fact, my dear, there are people who hated Ghostfacers.

You need to write the Jo/Michael. You've been ( ... )

No, it doesn't make you a bad intellectual at all. I found myself wishing that Spock would have been, well, I dunno how to put this. More BAMF, and not just that guy we're supposed to kinda hate until he's okay. I'd love to blame all that on the fact that Zachary Quinto totes pulled a sylar halfway through, but let's face it, if they'd written a more effective Sylar for him to pull, we'd all be walking out the theater thinking he were awesome, wouldn't we?

Basically, he should have been the Spock displayed in my icon. Catchphrases are so logical. Boo-and-yah.

I kept waiting for Spock to be the BAMF, and it just never quite happened. Which, in hindsight, was an even bigger WTF for the Spock/Uhura angle - after my initial burst of first-viewing "Spock/Uhura Hells to the Yes", I was left to wonder what, exactly, made Spock worthy of that level of awesome. There was (surprisingly) so little Uhura in the film after that overly-promoed bar scene, and what little we did see was tied to Spock. If we don't really care about Spock either way, how do we care about Uhura in that context ( ... )

I think that 90% of the movie is written, again, so the audience will side with Kirk instead of Spock. Spock's drawn as almost a villain, for a number of reasons, either due to the Kobyashi Maru or the fact that Uhura's his 'girl' instead of fawning after Kirk, or the fact that he gets the Captain position first. We're supposed to believe that, relative to kirk, he's still a mighty adversary that's against us until he's with us. That's just annoying in general. Or, like, something like that.

Ronon Dex and Teyla Emmagan When I read the meme, these two were immediately who I thought of. I love their sweet bro/sis vibe.

Malcolm Reynolds and Zoe Washburn Zoe definitely keeps Mal in line while at the same time following his lead.

Those two pairs are probably the closest to perfection on that list, Ronon and Teyla especially. That dynamic is why I'm admittedly still puzzled about the rampant OT4ness in SGA fandom. These two? Nothing romantic for me there at all.

Wow, I totally didn't know this comment was here!

Ultimately, I think Ben was just a really good guy. Fundamentally good. Sure, there was the drinking/gambling drama, but he was constantly trying to do right by everyone else, be it Julie (who I couldn't stand), Sean, Lauren, and even Felicity back when she was kind of a stalker. That's why I was totally thrown by the tossed-in cheating. It seemed like such an un-Ben thing to do.

4} I liked Jo, dammit.

I wasn't sure what to think of Jo in that first episode. But then I did end up liking her.

5} I also liked Bela before the lightswitch, didn't mind Anna, thoroughly enjoyed Katie Cassidy's Ruby at times, and friggin loved "Ghostfacers."

I remember when Kripke first announced that they were adding two female characters...almost everyone went a little insane. And I admit I was a little freaked out too but I tried really hard to not make any assumptions and ended up liking them as well. And, wait...who didn't like "Ghostfacers?!"...I loved it too!

Chloe Sullivan and Oliver Queen...

All that snark is one of the things I love most about them :D. And speaking of...I think the last time I asked was more than a few months ago so i figured it'd be okay to bug you again *smiles innnocently*...any chance I could get an update on if there will be an update to "And Justice For All?"...:)
