I'm now very curious to see what Mom Pony is going to give Aunt Pony for Hanukkah this year. She e-mailed me about an hour ago asking me to go out and find some good tea in a pretty container, and mentioned that she has Little Sister Pony working on another part of the gift. I, of course, hopped on my bike Æthelred and biked like the wind ( Read more... )

The best part is, I get my exercise either way. Public transportation in Cambridge isn't all that great; it's mostly for if you're trying to get out to one of the suburbs. Anywhere I go, I'm either walking, biking, or doing both. I've figured out that I can cut down my trip to shul considerably by biking into town, leaving Æthelred in the Fellows' Bike Rack, safely watched over by the porters, and then walking the mile from College to shul. Bike a mile, walk a mile, go to shul, walk a mile, bike a mile. Not a bad deal.

And I get braver on Æthelred every day, so I can bike further afield.

I've been behind on LJ, so I've missed a lot. Glad to see you while checking in! Sounds like your new life is going great. Will you be coming home or having visitors there for the holidays?

I'm having a pretty fabulous time in England. I've found friends, work, shul, good ingredients for cooking, a nice public library, a fantastic university, a really neat town to explore, basically everything you need out of life. (Except the ability to pick up the phone and randomly call either Little Sister Pony or the Pony Parents. That has to be done by pre-arranged Skype.)

I am going home -- it's the first holidays since my grandfather died, and Mom Pony wants everyone at home with my grandmother, so she and I are going halfsies on the plane ticket, and she's paying for the car service to get me most of the way there from the airport.

Next year, I might be having visitors, though!
