A promised review

Usually Wednesday means the day I watch Justified. But it will never mean that again, unless I decide to watch my dvds on Wednesday of course!

Now that Raylan Givens has deserted my screen, I feel the urge to sing that Bonny Tyler song "I need a hero"!

Where have all the good men gone and where are all the Gods ( Read more... )

Yup....

That's all I'm going to say because I get the feeling LJ is going to kill my post anyway. 85+% of the time I cannot get into LiveJournal any more.

Yes!!!! You nailed this summation perfectly. The only....thing I would argue...is that I think Boyd is equally as smart as Raylan and I do believe he knew he was being lied to, for all of their good. And I think it was masterfully played by Goggins because of the facial switch into coquette there....mid-conversation. He was crying for the "what could have beens" but still living very much in the present.

And YAY Wynn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We NEED to see Wynn and Saul cross paths. Two of the greatest supporting acts EVAH!!!!

I'm going to miss Justified.

Oh, and I knew that Winona and Raylan were never going to make it work. I cannot stand her and yet I wanted to believe it...but they just aren't right for one another.

The bad guys losing (well except Wynn of course, but he's special, and Ava because of her motherhood) and the good guys winning was true to spirit of Elmore Leonard's world, and Raylan remained a Marshall, but I'm glad they didn't go the romantic happy ending route. That would have been too much.

Villains are always stupid in Leonard's world. Boyd was smarter than most but not as smart as Raylan! ;-)

Anyway I don't think that his being fooled in the end (yeah I believe he bought the lie about Ava)was a matter of intelligence. Raylan giving him the news about Ava in person, visiting him after 4 years, had to be about him!

I would love to see Wynn Duffy in BCS but the problem is that Jere Burns already played another character on BrBa.

YAY!! I have never been so satisfied and in a feel-good place at a series end. THe hat! THe Winona! The giving of the crime novel! The jump ahead in time! It was up there with the "Six Feet Under" ending that gave codas to everyone but this was happier. The call-backs and easter eggs just had me smiling almost all the way through (there was some anxiety, of course, for reasons). It felt like everything came full circle with room to go on to happier things outside of our field of vision ( ... )

Remember Raylen's "if you run into an asshole, you ran into an asshole. If everyone you meet is an asshole, maybe you're the asshole" speech? That's what the switcheroo with the new cop reminded me of. Yep, that one too!
