That site was beautiful and so haunting. I see some people found it depressing...I took it as those younger selves are still inside, and our older selves can still see them, and there's pride and reflection on a long life there. Thanks for sharing that.
I didn't find it depressing either and was surprised to read some comments. Perhaps if it had been the other way round, young peope seeing their older selves in the mirror, it would have been a bit depressing...
I agree with you, I see it as the looking glass showing, revealing, the young self inside (working a little bit like a developing bath in photography), and suggesting the hidden journey between the two pictures.
I don't think it's depressing though there is of course a lot of nostalgia. Personally I think it's bordering on kitsch. Of course they were all very pretty in their youth and heroic and even now their lives look comfortable etc.

It's true they were all pretty in their youth, but the photographer obviously wasn't aiming at capturing street reality.
What I find interesting isn't the people themselves, but how he did it!
