Mad Men season 5

I've been enjoying Mad Men for years but I have always considered it to be overrated, and frankly last season was so-so, apart from the brillant "The Suitcase".

Great review. You've found all kinds of themes I didn't see. I actually find the show the most subtle on TV. When I listen to the audio commentaries with Matthew Weiner, there are all sorts of things I find out I never realized and I feel silly.

I don't think Season 5 is better than Season 4, which I found quite excellent and every bit as good as Seasons 1 and 2. I do think Season 5 had a better string of final episodes, after having many mediocre ones to start off the season. My least favorite season (3) had the best season finale, though.

Hope you enjoyed your vacation! Can't wait until next season.

Well we have to agree to disagree then as I often find stuff to be "on the nose", especially when they have a character voice the series' themes (like they did in the finale with Megan's mother and Pete's speech).

I wasn't on vacation, I just spent a month in Rome for work. I'm wiped out and need to rest, but glad I'm home, and soon there's the fifth season of Breaking Bad to watch!
