TV catch-up

I'm finding that the characterisation on From Dusk Till Dawn isn't really the same for me in season 2 :( Tbh I was most into the show in the first half of season 1 when Richie came across as a little bit sociopathic/there was just something off about him, and Seth was constantly having to keep him in check and worry about him. I read quite a bit of ( Read more... )

On the one hand I definitely want Clive to find out because it's really starting to become unbelievable that a DETECTIVE could be so obtuse but on the other hand, his reaction shots are always so funny! ^^

Heh true, I'm wondering if the writers are regretting letting the rest of the main cast in the know already now that Clive is pretty much the only character they can use now for those bemused reactions, so I wouldn't be surprised if they don't milk it for a while yet! *g*

I am in complete agreement with you regarding this season of From Dusk till Dawn. IDK, I'm just not enjoying it near as much as I did S1, I think your call on the brothers relationship feeling off has a lot to do with it. I ended up dropping it and will catch it later when it shows up on Netflix - too many other shows to keep up with to worry about one I'm not near as invested in anymore.

I do miss that first half of season 1 when it was more of a crime thriller. It seemed like Richie was originally written as a lot more fucked-up in the beginning, and there was always that sense of what could set him off, there was even that whole backstory of Richie killing their father by setting him on fire! Idk maybe I'm missing that whole ~us against the world~ feeling when they were pretty much only reliant on each other, and you got the feeling that Richie was a bit of a sociopath other than his love for his brother. (I am drawn to fucked-up dynamics like that on occasion *g*) Whereas I feel like season 2 Richie is a pretty generic criminal in comparison, and the main conflict between the brothers now seems to rather unimaginably be based around Richie feeling overlooked as the younger brother meh. It just seems like a lot of complexity was lost once Richie became a vampire and the show confirmed that he wasn't crazy after all, again what can I say lol, but I loved that whole build-up with unbalanced Richie and 'there is ( ... )

5, I think? The brothers had just reunited and were working together again. So, even though I was happy about that, I just wasn't invested enough with this seasons storylines to bother to keep up with the episodes as they aired.

I'm loving iZombie this season too! That police tape dress, Ravi in glitter and the Ravi/Major slow mo dancing was fantastically entertaining. LOL

I also don't get why Clive isn't cluing in, but I think you're right about the WTF reaction shot being important to the showmakers. Sure she claims to be psychic, but he's seen her personality alter with incredible regularity before it goes back to baseline, plus all the murders and rumors. He's got all the pieces of the puzzle-- so strange for a detective to not put them together.

iZombie's second season has definitely opened really strongly so far, hopefully they can keep it up! And yeah it doesn't seem like they're building towards Clive finding out anytime soon, but it is a bit implausible that the detective character would be the only main cast member who isn't in the know, especially given how closely he works with Liv on those cases where she is picking up identical traits to the victims

What do you mean "loving iZombie this season"? Do you have a second season over there already?

Nope, I don't think iZombie is airing in the UK at all actually? I've just been d/l it online

It doesn't seem to have made much of an impression in the UK at all actually, I can't even find the DVD's for it on amazon.co.uk :(

Yeah, I'm not enjoying S2 of From Dusk Till Dawn as much. At first I thought it was because the brothers weren't together, but it's still not really doing it for me.

Same :( I was frustrated in the beginning with how long they kept Seth and Richie apart, but I think I was a little more invested then actually because I was still enjoying the show exploring the Seth/Kate and Richie/Santanico pairings. Since Richie and Seth reunited though, while they've had their brotherly moments that I've enjoyed, I dunno I feel like it's more action action all the time, and there isn't really a lot of emotional investment for me any more...

The last episode was better for me, but I think I was really struggling around the time of the Uncle Eddie arc because I just didn't care about the brothers and their background the way that season 1 had set-up me up to care, even when the show was trying to set up a poignant moment with his death. I was a lot more invested in the flashbacks to their childhoods last season, but it feels like Richie's character has been flattened out somewhat since then?
