Is it possible to leave a tip in hindsight after having posted a request without one?

As long as your submission didn't say that you had already tipped, yes. :)
All requests saying that tips were left but never sent anything were deleted, so they wouldn't be there any more, and won't receive an icon if tipping afterwards.
