So The Boyfriend has been very patiently teaching me to play the guitar for the last two weeks, because he is a goddamn guitar prodigy and I demanded lessons

Geddy especially. :( I threw away a ton of guitar crap I printed off the internet, thinking, "Pff, you'll never take lessons and you don't know anyone who would teach you for free!" Now I'm kicking myself.
I'll be sure and let you know when I'm playing Carnegie Hall.

Cool! Good luck with lessons...and may you make beautiful music together. Or something that sounds less cheesy. :) Are you learning on an electric or acoustic (or both)? I'm thinking I remember you saying once that you had an electric?

AHHHAHAHA I remember that episode! I'm learning on a classical guitar, which is apparently a pretty crappy one, but after we restrung it, it sounded okay. Terri has a supersweet electric guitar with pearl inlays and shit, but she knows about as much stuff as I do.
I learned power chords! The first and fifth note of the octave! SEE, BOYFRIEND, I PAID ATTENTION TO YOU!
Also, I have very little Tom Petty in my music. We should remedy that, STAT.

I only know power chords now, but my goal is to learn "Smelly Cat".
Also, I am appalled that I have no Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers in my music library, since everything I had was on cassette.
