Meh. I don't do retinol, or any of them thar fancy medications. Mainly I just live with the damn things. But a dab of triple-antibiotic ointment will sometimes help, provided you wash frequently and don't overdo it.

I didn't *want* to do any of the fancy stuff, but I'm going crazy! I am piling on more and more concealing powder every morning and it's driving me nuts. I had better skin as a teenager!

I actually tried antibiotic ointment and it got rid of my current humongous visitor, so maybe I'll give that a whirl for awhile! Thanks for the advice!!

I've always wanted to try Mario Badescu's drying lotion. Celebrities are always swearing by it. Although that's more for spot treating than for general plague areas, which is what I'm typically dealing with.

I finally got sick of dealing with zits that wouldn't go away and made an appointment with a dermatologist. They didn't work any miracles on me, but they did write me a prescription for Duac, which sorta helped, but wasn't perfect.

Next time I go to the dermatologist, I'm going to say, "Look, I don't care what it costs, let's just pretend I'm a celebrity and I need celebrity skin. Go!"

I'm a total baby about finding new doctors, so I haven't bothered even attempting to find a dermatologist, even though I really should.

The text about the drying lotion intrigues me. "DO NOT shake the bottle and apply only the pink sediment on the skin." Now I kind of want to get some just to experiment with the stuff... But I'm kind of in the same boat as you--I've just got an area. No zits elsewhere, ever. Just the chin.

LOL I love it! I'm gonna try that next time I see my general practitioner. He'd appreciate it. Maybe I could even make it a tax write-off. "Look, my students can't look at a pimpled-up weirdo all day. I NEEDED this skin treatment to be able to do my job."

This sounds completely rational to me. You ARE in the public eye, after all.

Also, nix the Duac suggestion. It's part benzoyl peroxide, I realized upon reading the label.

Just promise when you find a solution that works, let us all know, will you?

I had some acne medicine that worked okay (on a scale of "total failure" to "amazingly awesome", I gave it a "meh") but I'm not careful enough about the benzoyl peroxide thing so I bleached a lot of things before I learned my lesson.

I currently JUST purchased some Neutrogena Ageless Intensives Tone Correcting Moisturizer (yeah, I had to get up and go read the name on the bottle). It's got retinol and vitamin C, and according to my scientific research (in other words, I read on the internet) retinol is supposed to increase cell turnover which will also unclog pores and reduce whiteheads.

Starting science experiment... NOW.

I'm no help here, sorry! I had to look up what Retinol was.

FOUR MORE WEEKS OF WORK!
I nearly burst into tears at that. Since I was eighteen... no, I used to work with my dad during summers, so since I was sixteen I worked in the summers. To have summers (mostly) off is a dauntingly awesome prospect!

I actually didn't really know what it was until a few months back when I was looking for skin treatments!

And summers off, oh man, summers off is the best. Until you get bored. And then, you just have to be bored quietly to yourself because everyone else will just say, "I WISH I could be bored for another two weeks!"
