well...I've been waiting for someone to actually be able to write this pairing in a way that works. I hate Hazel, but they are so much alike that it's difficult not to think of them as a brief pairing.

Heh. I agree with you completely. I'm no big fan of Hazel, but it certainly is true that he and Hakkai are quite similar in some ways.

Varahal was definitely the hardest one to write in this piece--there's so little dialogue in canon at this point to really get to know his character. Hazel and Hakkai's sniping at each other, by contrast, was actually pretty fun.

Oh, Hakkai, you are so right ... althought "Sunspot" gave me a little more sympathy for him. You know, though, it's really spooky/gross to thing about where Hazel got some of his flirty mannerisms ... no wonder Sanzo is so terribly creeped out by him.

I so enjoy reading your work. You take ideas or pairings not generally attacked and make them work. While not a pairing I would consider, this is well done.

It was deeply ironic, that a person who could consume enough alcohol to flatten a small elephant without being visibly impaired had his principles and inhibitions evaporate in the absence of one flimsy piece of metal.

This is perfect. Hakkai is such a passive/aggressive control freak one wonders if he can’t get drunk or simply won’t allow himself to do so. The idea of losing just one limiter as a means of breaking that barrier is excellent.

Now for the random and odd thought of the day, does this count as a threesome? :p

Thank you! Heh. I keep wandering back over to the Minekura Kazuya Kink Meme and staring at the Gyuumao/Hyakugen Mao prompt and thinking I could write that. The challenge of trying to make odd things happen in believable ways appeals to my logical self. ^_^ I'm very glad you liked the fic.

Thanks! I can't take full credit for the idea, as I've seen it done elsewhere in other fic. Hakkai's so conventional as a character, it's really hard to make him do anything outrageous. Yeah, "control freak" is a good term for him!

Ah, I see that you did another of my favorite Hakkai/odd pairing stories. I despise Hazel but I love this story.

LOL! I hate Hazel, too. 585 is my favorite pairing, but Hakkai is my reason for reading Saiyuki in the first place--so I'm happy to see him in any pairing as long as he's kept true-to-character.

I've really enjoyed all of your fics from the meme, btw. "Of Shade and Sunlight" and "Bedbugs" are both safely stored in my Memories. Please write more! :D

Wow, thanks! :) I'm new to fanfic writing so I'm glad to hear that people are liking some of my stories. It's a bit tough for me, though. I'm beating myself up over my yuletide_smut fic and I think that might be my undoing. If nothing else, I'll definitely need a break after it's done.
