So if I wanted to go see someone about my sleep apnea, who would I go see?

Ask Dr Theo for a referral to sleep clinic at RPA...

When we talked to Theo about it he said you can't die from it, and to learn to breath through your nose. Hmph.

yeah, it probably won't kill you but it does affect your quality of life, consciously deciding to breathe through your nose when you're unconscious doesn't work, and it doesn't cost him anything to write you a referral, so I say, ask again... or find another GP type doctor who will write you a referral.

I think if I specifically ask for a referral then Theo will give me one.

Get your GP to refer you to s specialist or a sleep clinic. Preferably one in a public hospital, so that it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg.

I thought that's what we paid health insurance for?

Yeah, you'd think so. There's still a 'gap', which is the difference between what your specialist charges and what your health insurance is willing to pay. My boss, for example, doesn't charge a gap. He gets enough from Medicare and/or private health insurers. Some of his colleagues, however, charge ridiculous amounts of money for very simple procedures.

So, yeah. As long as the waiting list isn't too long, I'd go public.

St Vincents has a clinic in the private hospital. The doctor in the same suite as Janet Rimmer whose name escapes me.
