The Highlights of My Year

2011 wasn't the worst of years, but it wasn't the best either. It was up and down, sweet and sour. I started the year living in Austin and working a day job at Vigil Games as lead writer on the Warhammer 40K MMO. I went to the Last Supper gig in Shepherd's Bush which I think was the last one. Penny Rimbaud and Eve Libertine came on for a couple of songs which was cool but I actually thought Carol Hodge sang Shaved Women et al better than Libertine!

Yes, I think that was the last one. A good show to see no doubt. I'm just happy he brought the tour to America.

Wow, I didn't even know about the Last Supper tour. I'm utterly out of touch with the punk scene, largely because in the UK it seemed to have descended even further into violence, heroin, and Special Brew than ever, last time I looked. I'm a big Crass fan though -- listening to them in my mid teens was what got me buying books on anarchism and pacifism, and basically shaped my entire political outlook for the rest of my life (previously I'd just aped my parents' right-wing beliefs).

A lot of the anarchopunk bands are playing again - The Mob have been doing some gigs and others.
