Jack hummed to himself as he finished setting up the room. "You're the sTop" by Cole Porter. It wasn't a love song true but he wasn't one to overdo the love thing even on Valentines Day. The room around him was an good example of this, lights low but not so dim people couldn't see the table where all the clean and bright toys were displayed. Jack ( Read more... )

"I still think this might be a bad idea." Liz sighs, adjusting the zipper on her hoodie for the millionth time. When they had the crazy idea to host what is a far kinkier version of a Tupperware party, Ianto was in a lot better state of mind.

Liz knows, however, that deviating from the norm is only going to make things seems suspicious and she also knows how the rumor mill around the BPRD gets. This? It's something Liz and Jack would do for a laugh for all their friends. It's normal...for them.

"Do you know if she told him yet?" Liz leans in and whispers to Jack, wondering if Ianto has arrived yet, or if she's going to at all. Liz doesn't want something like this to turn into a huge mess. The last party they threw had enough of that with those stupid tooth fairies.

"Yes I told him." Ianto answers, with an amused look carrying a bag. "And I could hear you." She sets the bag down and brushes a hand over her blouse and jeans. "I'd like to go ahead and have this party."

Jack walks over and gives Ianto a hug, "And how did he take it," he asks gently.

Liz winces. She should have expected Ianto to be early. It is Ianto after all.

She smiles encouragingly, and since Jack already asked the question at the front of Liz's mind, she simple hands over a cup of coffee to their friend and waits for the answer, hoping Nathan really is the kind of man Liz thinks he is.

Bumping down from up here

"I'm not angry, I'm..." Liz winces, remembering too late that Gray was here today. "I'm fine." Liz insists too firmly.

She's supposed to be a good wife, behave and be polite at a party. All that respectable rich person bullshit, as Red would call it. Letting your husband's brother know you're not in the mood to be polite and well behaved is not keeping with that.

"Whatcha drawing?" Liz asks Gray as she digs around the fridge, trying to find something she can take out to her friends so this 'Check on the food' excuse holds a little weight. "And why are you in the kitchen? Party's out there."

"You know you can be honest with me. I like it when people are." Gray smiles softly. "I'm me. You know?"

He watches her for an idle moment before getting up and pulling things out to make something quick and good since it seemed like Liz was looking for something to eat. "The village. Back on Boe." He answers softly. "And I'll go out later...I don't really have much to add at the moment." He'd mostly come to the party cause of Nathan and in hopes to see Peter.

I'm me.

That comment is enough to nearly make Liz start crying, or laughing. Or something. Who is anyone other then themselves? Should she really be surprised she's feeling this way? And what's more, should she really be upset with Jack when she knows he's not that stupid? Usually."Just... disappointed in someone." Liz says before Gray starts to help her without even being asked to. "Thank you." Liz steps back, again feeling a bit overshadowed by that Harkness brand superpower in the kitchen. "How can I help?" She asks very softly ( ... )

Gray could almost sense the torn emotions that Liz is feeling and gently hugged her, as if to say it'll all be alright. He pulls back. "Its a party so you need little finger foods right? I'll make you some warm ones in a bit but I'm gonna show you how to make some super easy cold ones." He smiles, knowing that sometimes she could feel overwhelmed by how comfortable him and Jack were in the kitchen.

He doesn't answer at first walking her through what she needed to do. "I miss it. I wish there was a way we could visit..maybe just spend the day there, by the beach." He smiles at the thought before shaking his head.

"I'm glad Nathan brought me along but...I'll just bring everyone down and I can't do that. I can stay here and cook, be helpful." He offers a shy smile. "I don't know a thing about those toys out there you know."
