What's even worse, is when people do air quotation marks, when they're speaking to you.

Oh man, that would be awful if they're used incorrectly! I would probably start twitching and biting my lip and really trying not to go verbal grammar nazi on them. Hehe.

Heh. I like to use air quotes when I'm being ironic. Would that drive you batty?

Nah, see, because if you use air quotes properly, like regular quotes, then that's normal! ...Right? I use them myself sometimes, but in proper context ;)

Haha, oh, if only the whole world were as good at properly formulating sentences as we are! And using correct punctuation and grammar! :D

What are they teaching in schools? Emphasis is generally through italics and boldface people. Quotes are for dialogue and sarcasm, man!

You seriously saw a site where they used quotes for emphasis? Somehow I've managed to stay pure from this or something because I haven't seen such misuse hardly at all. Huh. I am starting to become a bit of a grammar snob though. I borrowed a book from a friend and gave it back to her after a few chapters because there were too many sentence fragments and it was annoying the heck out of me! The characters were interesting, but I just couldn't keep reading it because of the author's "style." (<-- Look, correct usage! lmao)
