Fred's excited to be going out for dinner with Alan, more excited than she should be. But it seems like something important to her, going out for dinner with a friend, especially considering she doesn't really have many friends in Boston ( Read more... )

He's been getting out more and more lately--not that dinner is an uncommon occurrence, but the accompanying feeling of relief is. This has been in the works for some time, though, and it's not as though they're dining in Wyoming.

Nonetheless...it's a relief. He parks in front of her apartment complex, gets out and rings the doorbell.

She has to restrain herself from hurrying to the door, so she puts her textbook down carefully and smooths her skirt before getting up off the couch.

"Hiya," she says, opening the door for him.

The greeting makes him smile. "Hello. You look wonderful." Now would be the ideal time for a kiss on the cheek, but hopefully this will go well enough that postponing it to the end of the evening won't be a problem.

She smiles brightly. "Thanks," she says, then moves away from the door.

"You can come in. I've just gotta get my jacket and purse."
