LJ Idol week 30 (4/6): cesspool

Urban Dictionary has a fantastic definition for the cesspool of humanity: "the comments on almost any YouTube video".

Hear, hear.

I argue with my mother, who says, "well, just delete stuff you don't like." I tell her that for her generation, the internet is a fun toy. For me, it is the vast repository of information, and I'm going to do everything I can to try to keep it clean.

Yeah, my mom doesn't fully get it either. Dad does, but that's because he works for a search engine...

It'd be nice to have a button you could put on your computer to filter out the filth that appears when you do a simple search. If I had a child under 18 in the house there'd be no internet.

Well written.

I despair when I read comments on news articles....so much hate.

This entry is a nice reminder for us all.

I ought to link to this from the Wild Violet submission guidelines. Getting tired of taking down work people no longer want tied to them.
