We actually used boxes from papermart that resembled happy meal boxes. On the outside I pasted a New York postcard as decorations. They were SUPER simple and cheap. The boxes were about 50 cents and the postcards 25 cents.

Inside I included snacks like a candy bar, gum, crackers, chips etc. I purchased the items in bulk - like Sam’s Club. On the outside was rolled paper to resemble a newspaper. I then attached the paper with ribbon to the handle. The newspaper included a letter from us thanking the guests for traveling to our wedding, another paper recapped the major wedding details (like time, location, wedding events and directions), another page briefly discussed New York city and had a top 10 list of our favorite things to do. We included our favorite restaurants, the location of them and places we enojoyed going that we thought our guests might like. Last was an all important map of the city.

I will post a link to photos in a bit.

Cool, Thanks!

(Did you know you are famous in the Planning "Your Guests" thread about Welcome bags?? Two people posted about your boxes!)

Yeah, I think I was one of them. Was I?

I saw someone use those boxes and attribute the pic to Bee beck. Since I had used almost the exact same boxes (but had a friend print labels for the outside instead of using a postcard) I thought that they had swiped the idea from me, so I posted about it. Instead, I had unknowingly used bee beck's boxes. oops! :)

I had a friend print clear labels that we stuck on the outside that said "Welcome to Tampa, Love Nayla and Mike." On the labels was the skyline of Tampa. I tied a dark red and ivory gingham ribbon on the top of the box in a bow. Inside were maps and postcards of Tampa, chocolate gators, gummi creatures that represented sea critters one can find in these parts, bottled water (the small size) a package of goldfish crackers, some shout wipes and some other stuff I am sure I am forgetting. :)
