Anthrocon 2012: June 14 - 18th

Once again I was able to attend Anthrocon out in Pittsburgh. Traveled out there early thursday with catmandux on MegaBus - tickets were bought early so they were only six bucks each way :)
Though gotta be honest, it was not an easy six bucks and I may have to rethink how I travel out there next time.

The bucket brigade thing at Furfright started to annoy me last year too because I couldn't go anywhere around the hotel without being approached multiple times for donations. It's not a problem at Anthrocon yet because the con space is so big that I actually didn't run into a single bully bucket the whole time. I wish I didn't have to be critical on this since it's for charity but there is a point where solicitation detracts from the con experience.

I enjoyed fursuiting around the hotel block in the evenings too. It was a lot of fun interacting with the locals. (even the ones who were slightly drunk :) )

Yeah that's true, FurFright is where that bucket brigade really became noticeable and annoying. I only saw one fursuiter with a bucket at Anthrocon and you're right that the space is so large and there are so many people that you're unlikely to get hit up or cornered to the extreme. Someone mentioned they were giving out ribbons if you donated to someone with a bucket so I guess that made some folks seek them out? I dunno.

But yeah, fursuiting around the immediate city area was tons of fun - I would not be surprised if we consistently draw more and more cityfolk to the downtown area during the 'dead' weekend time just so they could see us :)
