University turns out to be easy enough. Akihiko sails through his first year, passes all his exams and eases into his summer holidays gladly. He’s tired of having to wake up before noon every day, and he’s tired of having to deal with his course mates. They’re pleasant enough, but a man can only take so much prattled gossip before he wants to gouge

I think my Haruhiko stays a bit of duty as well. I'm not sure about his motivations some of the time. I think in my head I've got it sorted that he has issues backing right up to his mother; that she told him to do everything his father said before she died, so he's sort of stuck in this rut because he's never really dealt with her death properly and he doesn't have the heart or the fight to get out. (Both brothers have issues dealing with things). Doing everything his stepmother says is probably a side shoot of that.

I know I have problems when I don't even know why my characters do what they do. ^-^

I don't know how to put this without sounding really stupid, but I love the way you use the alcohol in these fictions. Not that she's a drunk, or he's becoming one.
What I mean is that you clearly know how it feels to be drunk, and that state between drunkenness and being hungovered for instance. I kind of can feel the taste of alcohol in my mouth when I read. GAH. I simply can't explain it but it feels so real, and these fics of yours are just getting more amazing. Just the clack of the glass to the mothers teeth as she's downing that martini. Awesome. Just awesome.

This turned out to be the weirdest comment ever so I'll just stop. A question first. Was THIS the last chapter?

Ooooh, thank you! I just had to look through all my chapters to find how many of them someone drinks in, and the total is rather alarming. =D Alcohol is such a great plot device; it allows people like Akihiko to act out more than they would normally.

Nope, not yet. There's still three chapters to go, and perhaps an epilogue. =D

For some reason I thought the sun would be Misaki (both the warmth and the explosion XD ) I'm glad you're not predictable.

I know I'm repeating myself, but I really like your Akihiko. Most fanfics are from Misaki's pov, and they just focus on how much Akihito loves him, but rarely do they explore why.

Thank you! That's why I set out to write this, actually, because most of the stories I have read were about Misaki, and no one ever really touched on Akihiko's past. And it's a blank canvas, so I can do whatever I want with it. =D
