I just had some fillings yesterday (and a few more smaller ones to come on Friday, meh), and even just the half day of numbness and lack of solid food was annoying, so I greatly empathize with you there.

And good on the Pastry for doing right by his partner. I did some similar things for L when she had her breast reduction. I don't think I've ever seen her as happy to see me as she was when she saw me after she woke from surgery. That alone made everything else worth it.

It's certainly a shame that you went through so much difficulty getting to the point of surgery, but it's awesome that it ended up working out for the best for you, preparation-wise.

May your healing be swift, and the benefits plentiful! *cheers on your might*

L got lucky, I woke up to my surgical team....but I don't remember any of it. My surgery ended at around 9-10p and my surgeon sent my parents home at 11p. 5.5 hours total, didn't see Pastry till the next day when I was supposed to go home (they kept me an additional day).

And thanks! I feel eternally grateful to the universe for setting this up, even though it took forever.
