LJ Account

I have a question for my friends with paid LJ accounts: My paid account will expire in two days. I tried to renew it by paying with my credit card but the transaction failed. Last year I was unable to renew my account too. I sent a note to the LJ tech help explaining that my payment was not accepted. LJ renewed it for free .
I will be doing this again in a week or so,and I hope LJ will renew it for free again. I would hate to deal with ads.

I think anyone can own a community but maybe the FAQs would have that information.

Oh, that's right, I didn't think of that. I just wrote to LJ Support, asking what I could do. Thank you!

I couldn't find anything in FAQ but maybe I missed something. Now I'll just wait and see what Support tells me.

I can't answer the first question, but I can definitely say the holder of a free Lj account can own a community - but you might not retain all the bells and whistles - plus you might have to rethink your journal style as they're not all free. I've just taken over pros_wip and I'm not finding any issues, if you wanted to check that out.

Ah, thank you! That's very reassuring. I don't care too much for style etc. but I would hate for the comm to just disappear.

All you have to do is send a message to the folks at LJ and they will renew your account.

Hope that helps a bit.

Thank you! In fact that's what I just did. akane42me suggested that too and for her they renewed it for free. Did they do that for you too?

Excellent! My account is good until 2026, I think, but they renewed my user package for free this past December.
