Yes, I know it's not a person. But it amused me :-)

Oh! I searched for your response and saw "Turing", failed to look for your second response.

You could call it a Turing machine! Awesome! Although it's time for some equal opportunity, don't you think? ;)

Babbage. Not just because of who he was in life but also because of how his name sounds. "Babbage" is a fun word to say. "Babbage. Babbage. Babbage." See? :-)

"Simon" is slightly fun to say, because of the nice sibilant, but not as much fun as "Babbage." "Turing" can confuse non-computer folks. Well, if you know any, it can. :-) And "Pausch" isn't that fun of a word and also has a sad connection -- an interesting person dying in the prime of life.

randy pausch was one of my cs teachers my last year of college; when i was ridiculously ill in the hospital, he visited me to give me the lectures i'd missed. so his name certainly has positive connotations for me, though i don't know about for other folks.

Randy Pausch was at the University of Virginia during one of Norman's years there, and I also have positive memories of him, though nothing as compelling as yours. To me, that's WHY his name is sad -- he shouldn't be dead!

This might sound a bit weird, but I'd like to know what kind of computer it is. I'm bad at naming things until I know what they are.
