Alex hadn't realized what day it was until he'd been awake and in a decent sort of mood for awhile. Karla had a lot of things to do after getting home from Ebou Dar. Had she the least idea of what today was--or the mood it would put Alex in--she might have waited until tomorrow to tap on the door of Jello Dragon, a small wooden box in hand.

Of course, he had been looking for a drink and a fight. And lo, here both had appeared on his doorstep.

"No one's fucking home," he said when that knock sounded and no one else responded to it. "I gave at the office."

Of course, the door was open so nothing stopping her from coming in save for his sharp words.

Meek and mild Karla might have flinched and run away at his tone (not that she ever would have sought him out in the first place), but regular Karla just rolled her eyes and took that as an invitation to enter the cabin.

"Gave what?" she asked, leaning on the wall near his alcove. That space she would not enter without his permission. "Attitude? Color me shocked."
