All that celebration about bin Laden's death made me feel more than uneasy. Leaving aside the fact that there'll probably be retaliation, I don't think it's right to celebrate anybody's death.

It doesn't matter who it is that died - they were still a human being, and to celebrate the death of a human being is just wrong ( Read more... )

My girlfriend just complained about everyone assuming all Americans are out on the streets celebrating, ha. Anyway, I agree of course.

Heh, well, enough are, and I had some heated discussions yesterday with Americans who *were* celebrating.

I know that not all of them are, but enough to have big parties in the streets. And this time, it's not just the republicans. I don't think these pictures show the US under a good light.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying anything against that! I didn't mean to imply that that's what you're implying (if that makes sense), I just remembered when I saw your entry. :)

Anyway it's pretty gross, I agree.

Afghanistans celebrating Obama's death, for instance. We would rightly condemn them

Err, AFAIK Obama's not a mass murderer responsible for blowing up ships and embassies, taking down skyscrapers and using his wives as human shields. I agree the celebrations were over the top, but I understand the motivation. I must say the news brought a smile to my face Sunday night.

Well, to some Afghanistans, the president of the US is a mass murderer. Ever thought of all the casualties in that senseless war?

You and I wouldn't agree with it, but to them, this is their truth.

It doesn't matter what a man or woman did during their lifetime. It's never right to celebrate someone's death.

And sturmbringer's also right - death =! justice.
