I agree, ALA was interesting, from a writer's perspective. The marketing aspect, and listening to what the librarians want.

I've seen Eve Bunting three times now--at Chautauqua, in my hometown (she visited the Corona Public Library) and at ALA. In Corona, she told me that her daughter's name is Christine, too. I already knew that, because I saw her at Chautauqua with her mom. :>)

It was a while ago...1991. :>) That was the only year I could afford to go there. Yeah, it was a great learning experience and a beautiful setting. Two other people from that group were at ALA: Andrea Davis Pinkney (now a Scholastic editor) and Edith Hope Fine (signing at the Lee & Low booth).

Eve gave a talk at my local library in 1999. That morning, she said, she'd just sold her 200th book! I don't know how many she's got now.

I went to Chautauqua in 2006 and this time of year I always sigh and wish to be there again!!

Me, too. I was young and homesick back then. :>) I'd probably do a lot better there now.
