streets of gold

Levi is about to crawl. Norah seems to be developing an appreciation for teasing (an essential to survive in the Nickoli family). Mike has left pharm sales and begun an exciting job as a financial planner with Northwestern Mutual. i find myself dreaming about an upcoming trip to san francisco and yosemite nat'l park at least twelve times a day. who says heaven won't be endless stretches of the beauty we've seen here - but amplified!? I do believe He's got things in store we can't imagine, but I also thinks He lets us "start" heaven here when we recognize the glorious things He's already given us. hope the vacation goes well. thanks for the reminder to think about heaven more :) Sarah B

Taste and See that The LORD IS GOOD! and what a taste we are often given if we receive what's offered! =0) Can't wait to hear about all that you "taste" on this up-and-coming adventure of yours! =0)

Spread out over the Earth anonymous July 30 2008, 08:46:21 UTC
Not to get in a theological debate but your blog reminded me of a verse from the Gospel of Thomas (not cannonized):
"His disciples said to him, "When is the kingdom going to come?" , "It is not by being waited for that it is going to come. They are not going to say, 'Here it is' or 'There it is.' Rather, the kingdom of the father is spread out over the earth, and people do not see it."

I find it a bit garish to think of "streets of gold" in the literal. What do you think?

hmmm...this is interesting. i do think that heaven will consist of so much more than harps and clouds. and i think that heaven will come to earth (like, "Thy Kingdom come"), and that maybe it will look a lot like it does now, except without blemish--no forest fires, pollution, drought. maybe it will be so pure that it will be blinding to our earthy (not earthly) eyes, and somewhat like gold...no matter what, isn't it just wonderful to think of it? btw, where would one come across the gospel of thomas?
