It would be nice if it was a simple two-sided problem where men are the problem, but lots and lots of women sexualize each other as well. And I don't believe that it is entirely because they've "fallen" for the male perspective. Quite the contrary, we find that women are easily their worst critics, even in private, when reputation to men is not an issue. There have been a lot of great studies lately about female bullying in the last few years, and I thought the language study between mothers and daughters to be particularly telling of the female empowerment struggle that only peeks out through the porn debate ( ... )

You are right. Re-reading my post, I characterize this mainly as a male vs. female issue, and it really is a much more complex cultural issue. Could you send me a link to the language study? It sounds incredibly fascinating.

While we are on the subject, why are women their own worst critics? It seems that women force themselves to fit sexually tailored stereotypes in order to chase after some elusive ideal of what is feminine. I think some of it stems from commercialism in our culture, which seems to constantly places a price on their definition of what is "sexy".

Not an easy topic. And you are right, it is impossible to stuff all the various forms of sexual expression/porn into a small box. And I have to qualify that I can't even begin to touch on my thoughts on this subject in a short response. And, I know that you and I will disagree on the subject greatly (like we always do! :>)) But, here goes.... Even within the "porn movie" business, the spectrum of content is incredibly broad. The porn movie business is like every other entertainment business, they make what will sell. And the fact is, there is porn out there with every and any fetish/desire a girl or boy could want. I think it is very unfair to assume that those women and men who are acting in porn movies are there under some sort of duress and that they have no control over their situation. It is through these types of arguments that women are degraded and sexualized. We do live in a free country (sort of these days) and we, as women, can and do choose to use our sexuality to our advantage. I'm not denying that there are ( ... )

that the one thing that our camps are close on is porn!!!

I agree 100% that if we could find a way to stop women in porn from being exploited we should do it. Unfortunately, it's human nature for some to exploit others and it's one of those things that we just can't change. Been happening since the beginning of woman.......

Speaking of man boobs, Did I tell you about the guy who mows his grass on Sunday morning near Joette's house? When we are on our way to church, we see him mowing with no shirt on and he has a set of man boobs that every woman would envy. They are perky and about a B cup. Amazing. You know, I'd love to do a book of photos of man boobs, but I'm afraid I'd offend men if I asked if I could take a picture of their man boobs.

I never thought my porn discourse would end up with a discussion about your man boob fetish.

I love you.
