Competing Values and Dealing with Bias

I've had some pretty spirited debates since I last posted with close friends and family members about my position on Plan B and the rights of pharmacists to refuse to fill prescriptions. Yeah... I didn't quite realize it was a manifesto until after I posted it. I agree, that would be the best way--- to make it available at the doctor's office. And some do. I know Planned Parenthood offers EC to their patients, even to have as a preliminary measure, ready in case it is needed.

I agree with you that the pharmacist is important... I don't doubt their qualifications, or their sincerely held beliefs. However, in my mind, that is one of the things that sets them apart. They are professionals, with a duty to facilitate the care that the doctor and the patient have agreed upon.

I think nomatter what, we are picking one's civil rights over another... we just can't get around it in this situation.

I suppose this is something that we have to disagree on... I love you just the same. What happened to your blog, chica??
