Adorable! Great to see the emergence of the "pants" theme, but just a wee quibble: shouldn't it be "*They* were hanging in the sun"?

Well the 'it' refers to the 'something he had never seen' and something is singular, so it really does make sense to say 'it' rather than 'they', even though usually you would say 'they' for a pair of pants. :D

True, though since the things hanging in the sun were the object of the sentence...hey, maybe there's a grammar_nerds LJ comm somewhere :-)

Perhaps there's no way to reconcile it fully?
