January in short

The Snowpocalypse has me housebound, so here's me playing catch-up on all the crap in my head for the last month or so. Don't worry, my brain doesn't hold that much. :p

Zombies! I had a couple of zombie dreams last month, within a week of each other.

dream the first )

technology, apple, dream journal, zombies!

I suspect the big-assed data center they're building in Maiden, NC, might just be for MobileMe based sync and backup - no host PC needed. Also, printing is rumored to be on deck for iPhone OS 4.0. Given those two things, it might just be quite a bit more stand alone than we saw - it seems pretty obvious we got just a broad strokes overview, and not a detailed spec sheet. :) I have this sneaking suspicion that a good chunk is under wraps until the next iPhone is released.

That would probably be the unlocked one. And MobileMe makes me nervous, I guess I'm old. :p

Unlocked... you mean unlocked SIM? They're all sold unlocked. They use the Micro-SIM, however, which AT&T has, and T-Mobile has not yet rolled out. Once they do, you can use T-Mobile instead.

Or did you mean jailbroken? Nope, this is vanilla out of the box printing support, as the rumor has it. They're just sliding CUPS back in place, as it is on MacOS X, and providing a dev-facing API for it.

And you may be old, but I don't really trust MobileMe that much either. ;) I keep only basic info on it at the moment, for iPhone syncing purposes.

By 'unlocked' I mean 'not exclusive to a carrier.' The price of the phone will probably go down, or have versions for each carrier, etc. They won't have to be subsidized by AT&T.

And I meant the next iphone would be the unlocked one, I'm pretty sure the next version and os 4 will be the 'now for everybody' version. At which point, yes, I will likely buy one. :)

I guess it depends if the pad has a Dropbox application (I refuse to call them 'apps'); if I can use Dropbox I doubt I'd need MobileMe.
