Nobody else?

Come on, I know you people are an opinionated bunch. Nobody else has a thought on which font for my tattoo? I should warn you if you don't say anything and it turns out it sucks, it's partially your fault. I may ask for reparations ( Read more... )

I think you should put it on your forehead to remind people who really need a reminder. ;)

Seriously? You want to know what I think about the font of a text tattoo on the arm of a person I am likely never to see in person?

Ooooh-kay.

Honestly, neither font strikes me as particularly good or bad. This may be because text tats are not my thing, or it may be that once a font satisfies my need for legibility, I have no further interest in it.

That said, what do you think of http://eknp.com/php/fd.php?f=gothic_hijinx ?

I agree with your assessment - the weightier one is better, but could lead to zomgsplotches. Perhaps if you and an artist worked together to lighten it just a bit, it would work.

Or, you could adjust the kerning on the lighter one, as you said. I just grabbed a very similar font, and am playing with the kerning now. How do you want it adjusted? (Psst. Every app on a Mac that uses the standard text boxes gets kerning and other font manipulations for free. I'm doing this in the equivalent of WinPad.)

I see you ignored the duct tape question--did it bring to your mind, as it did to mine, an image of Matt Curland?

You should give some serious consideration to when the skin moves or sags. Tats with a lot of straight lines tends to look really shitty once the skin starts to move around, as it tends to do in just a few years. Other pure geometric shapes suffer the same problem (circles, clean arcs, etc.) The problem with word tats is that you are almost forced to follow a pure geometric shape in laying them out. I do not think you will be happy in 10 or 20 years with this tat for this reason. You would then be facing a choice... live with it, modify it to hide the problem, or try one of the tat removal processes (which all currently suck ( ... )
