The Beginning of the End

My No-End story is on the point to get an ending, at last: I just posted the penultimate chapter both on AO3 and of ffnet. The next chapter will be the last one, with maybe an epilogue

I'm sorry you feel like you have to write for others more than yourself.

My issue isn't that it's a Bodie/Cowley story, but a work in progress. I have a hard time reading bits especially over a long period of time. I want the whole thing before I read something.

To be honest, I've not been reading much in any fandom right now, but you should write what you want to write doing it however you like to do it.

Good luck.

Well, "No man is an island," and so on ...You don't write only to express yourself (except maybe in the most intimate poetry, and still) but to communicate and exchange with other people with similar interests. It's not so much encouragement I needed (actually I had it from a noticeable number of occasional readers) than the stimulation you get from the share of ideas, impressions and feelings.

I certainly wouldn't reproach anyone not to read a work in progress since it's what I do myself! As I don't read things which I suspect, could make me feel uncomfortable; so I perfectly understand those who don't want to read a story based on a pairing they dislike. Actually my post was a simple statement, not a complaint.

The main thing is I hope you enjoyed writing it.

I know I've written stories that got little or no comment. Some even had negative comments about the pairing, in particular Bodie/Cowley, or in The Sentinel fandom, Simon/Blair or Simon/Jim/Blair. But those were stories I enjoyed writing and for me that was the most important thing.

I hope you finish your work and that it brought you enjoyment. I know you weren't complaining. I was just trying to explain why I hadn't commented often which was because it was a work in progress.

It's too bad that the whole experience has been one of discouragement, but the pairing isn't a favorite of most Pros fans, though I have seen other stories in the past. In zines, though I couldn't tell you where. But I'm happy to hear that you'll still be writing in UNCLE, and look forward to reading your stories once they're finished.

That's the understatement of the year!

I think I have now all the stories, some of them I contributed to their being archived in Proslib. A friend of mine, who owns all the zines, confirmed me there were no others. However I am still looking for stories where the interactions between Bodie and Cowley are especially stressed on and analyzed.

I only started reading Pros in 2013 and I found your story only last year, so I couldn't offer to beta the story. And all I could have offered would have been a plot-beta because English isn't my native language either.

It is sad that you couldn't find a beta and I must admit I don't understand it. For me reading as a plot-beta didn't mean that I must like or love what the author wrote, but that I have to look for plot-holes.

Sometimes I write in German and there are not many who want to read in German either. But this is ok for me, because I mostly I write for me and not for the others. If they don't want to read what I write then it's ok for me. So, write what YOU want to write because then you can read what you want to read.

And be sure, when I've read the whole story I'll comment on it. :-)

I thought I had seen your screen name before 2013 but, anyway, I had only asked for a beta at the start and not with much persistence. I sensed nobody was interested and I gave up. I do have a beta, of course, and a very good one but not in the Pros fandom (she used to write MFU stories, not any more). It helps when your beta knows your universe and the canon perfectly. I owe her all the improvement I may have made in my writing skills.

No, I discovered the fandom and fanfiction in July 2013 when my father was very ill and I needed something to distract me.

And yes, it is always the best if the beta knows the show. I would be very useless in MFU because I don't know the show.
