A/N: This has not been an easy few weeks for me. Highs, lows, everything in between, and people adding their own little soap operas to what's already a bucketload of family drama. I started to work on my scrapbook pages (yes,
starbuck92, I will get it to you on time and in Hebrew) and realized how much the people I've gotten to know in A/R fandom have helped me through this time. It seems strange to say it, because just a short while ago I knew none of you, and yet...
So I wanted to write a little gift for you all, even with the time pressure I'm under. Consider this just a down payment.
Thanks to many people:
whatever_lj for getting me to write A/R in the first place. I am, as always, your creation. To
icedteainthebag and
nnaylime over on
bsg_kink for getting me into drabbles, and to
icedteainthebag again (this time over on
remember_laura ) for keeping me excited about them. To someone, somewhere on my flist or in one of my comms, for a one-line comment about a show other than BSG for inspiring this drabble (when I remember who you are, I'll link). To
treeofstars , whose beta I keep putting aside to write more drabbles. (
icedteainthebag , you've created a monster. A monster, I tell you!) To
bsg_aussiegirl , who didn't kill me for my drabbles. To
snoopy0917 for reminding me of the power of a single well-turned sentence. And most especially to the minions,
bugsfic ,
kastari , and
lacklusterfic (in alphabetical order, because I'm not going to try to rank you!), who sharpened this drabble and made sure every relative clause was restrictive.

Heartbreaker
Sometimes he thought he hated Roslin.
She'd come into his life, promised to be there for him, then a few months ago announced her medical condition meant she'd soon be gone.
He never expected to see her in the marketplace, carrying a pink bundle that squirmed like a kitten. She called him over to her.
"Yes, Mrs. Roslin?"
"Willy, I'd like you to meet someone." She unwrapped the bundle, uncovering a shock of red hair, two green eyes: a baby in a teddy bear romper. "This is my Laura."
He turned away. She'd left their class for that ugly thing?
