Keeping time in the absence of sun and moon can be difficult.

When the cylons were attacking every 33 minutes they lived by the clock, ran by the clock.

But afterwards hours ran together, days, weeks. The commander was the only one who had a sense of what day it was, almost like he had an internal clock.

Truth was, he did.

Day 1, he'd meet with the President. Nice long word, formal, dignified. Fleet business, buttoned jackets, eye on the agenda and not on the commander-in-chief.

Day 2 he'd meet with Roslin. Annoying, attractive, infuriating partner in saving humanity.

Day 3 he'd meet with Laura. Shorter word, sound lingering on the tongue. He'd never call her by her name, but he could think it. He could admire the passionate way she'd argue her views, even if he didn't agree.

Day 4 all he'd see was hair, hand, knee. The air on Colonial One seemed a little thin, his uniform a little tight. When he'd try to get his mind to focus on longer words, the only ones it would respond to were thigh, chest, pelvis.

Day 5 he'd move their meeting to public ground, the ward room on Galactica. Interruptions by his crew would be a welcome relief from his meeting with eye, leg, hip, tit, ass. An ear, briefly revealed in a quick turn of the head. A toe, briefly released from high-heeled confinement. Lips--

Day 6 he'd have to decide how to keep his sanity. Proposition the president of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol or take matters into his own hands. He wondered how long it would take until he broke and did something inappropriate. He wondered if she were as flexible in real life as she was in his imagination.

On the seventh day he rested.
