They were engaged when she died. The fact Duncan was never married was a plot point, he was apparently cursed to never marry. And whether by coincidence or not all the women he truly loved died before they had a chance to consider marriage.

Oh this was very funny. I like this. I also like the explanation for why Methos doesn't get drink despite the copious amounts of alcohol he drinks. I also like the small snippets you drop as to what all of them have done over the centuries.
