Mag7/ highlander/ Charmed fic like lists - "How I spent my summers"

Aug 25, 2009 18:00

All the kids on summer holidays running around under foot gave me a fic list bunny, and I decided to write about the summers of some of my favourite characters. Yes I know I'm already writing lots of different stories but this is a sort of seasonal one-shot, (which I might continue with some other characters because I haven't done any of the pilots ( Read more... )

i kind of like this format - it wouldn't for everything, but it gives a good solid emotional background to the characters.

I like it too, it tells the barebones and lets the reader flesh it out. It almost says more because it says so little.

Plus I find it so much easier and more fun to write. I tend to fill my fics with 'and then he left the room, and then she entered and picked up...' you get the idea, and everything gets lost in the getting the characters from A to B. Particularly as I haven't written much in the Mag 7 (or charmed) fandom before so I'm still learning the characters.

Liked it, some more than others:). Espesially Chris at 36, Vin at 14 and Methos at 3609 :). Think I have a date for a flashback in the next Methos/Rebecca story:).

Thank you :-) those were some of my favourite bits.

Ooo will look forward to your Methos/Rebecca fic, I really like them.

In my head canon Methos and Rebecca have this really fantastic (and long) friendship, they meet up spend time together and if neither of them is in a relationship then they sleep together and may spend a year or even a decade happily living together. Mortal relationships come first, and unlike Amanda and Duncan they can be close platonic friends if one of them is in a relationship without any difficulty. They both love each other but are not in love with each other.

I agree, but I think they prefer to make themselves scarce around each other when there are mortal relationships - just not to confuse mortals:).
By the way, have you read my "Once in Rome"?:)

Thank you glad you enjoyed it. I haven't written much charmed stuff yet (I have one fairly long crossover that I keep meaning to finish) so it's a nice way to teach myself about the character.

I too loved the end of the Chris Halliwell one. Very cool.

Chris Larabee at 34 ... until one day Buck wasn't there anymore. Very poignant. Great format - and each summer tells a story.

These were wonderful, the format really worked well here, giving just enough detail to make each summer distinct and enough time to show character development.

(would you be interested in doing Buck as well?)

Thank you, yes I want to do some more I was thinking of doing Buck and Ezra in another post. I do enjoy writing in this sort of format I find it so much easier.
